    Omaha, Nebraska - Abbott Drive

Bike for Sight is an Omaha, Nebraska event that aims to raise money and awareness about cataracts, the leading cause of blindness worldwide, and the all-too-hard-to-get surgery in hard-pressed corners of the world. The University of Nebraska Medical Center is sending three surgeons to Haiti. The number of patients who can get vision-restoring surgery will be determined by the number of people who sign up for the Bike for Sight event.

The ride includes a free t-shirt, SAG support, and post-ride refreshments. Riders can choose from 5-, 10-, 20- and 40-mile routes that start on Abbott Drive and head north of Omaha.

100% of Bike for Sight event registrations will be used to fund sight-restoring surgeries on patients in Cape Haitien, Haiti.

icycle Ride Across Nebraska (BRAN) is a community service project of the Rotary Club of Omaha Northwest, with the assistance of the Omaha Pedalers Bicycle Club. Since 1980, this week-long tour provides an up-close and personal journey through the unheralded beauty and charm of Nebraska. This is a tour designed by bicyclists for bicyclists.

BRAN is an opportunity to bring people from rural and urban Nebraska together for a common cause. City folks and country folks too often don't get a chance to interact with each other. BRAN brings both of these groups together to explore all they have in common. BRAN riders often remark about the beauty of Nebraska - both its countryside and its people.

NUMB (the Nebraska United Methodist Bike Ride for Hunger) is an annual bicycle loop tour that covers approximately 245 miles over 4 days. NUMB benefits the hungry in Nebraska and around the world and is sponsored by the Nebraska Annual Conference Board of Mission Outreach Hunger Committee. The ride is limited to the first 135 riders, and participants pay a registration fee that covers the event expenses and must also secure a minimum of $100 pledged to United Methodist Hunger programs.

SAG support is provided along the route, as well as gear transport and showers and camping facilities in each host community.

The Pedaler's Jamboree is a music festival created for bicycle riders and non-riders alike!  The Pedaler's Jamboree Iowa is a addition to the popular Pedaler's Jamboree event in Missouri that has been rocking the Katy Trail since 2009.

Bicyclists depart from Waukee on the morning of Saturday, September 5th. Drop off your overnight packs at check in and prepare for a weekend of relaxed bike riding, music, and fun. The ride will traverse the "Northern Loop" of the trail on Saturday. The trail encompasses a wide range of landscapes, from wooded stretches, prairies, rivers and farmland. Stop at your convenience at a handful of locations to enjoy live music and entertainment. Bands will play throughout the day in communities across the trail.

The final destination, Jefferson Iowa, will host the feature event with main stage music. Overnight camping at the fairgrounds will be free for all registered riders! Hotel/motel accommodations are available at local establishments. There will be food available at restaurants throughout the town of Jefferson as well as food vendors.

The following day (Sunday, September 6), riders will return to Waukee following the "Southern Loop" of the trail. New terrain and towns will be experienced and the music and festivities will continue to rock until riders complete the ride at the end of the day on Sunday.

Due to highway construction slated south of Spencer this summers, this years ride will incorporate the Spencer Trail System and black top roads. Riders may opt for 25 miles (or whatever you feel like pedaling).  Following the ride...we always enjoy socializing!

The Katy Trail is a scenic 237 mile bike trail that crosses much of Missouri. Once an old rail road line, it has been converted into a bike trail that meanders through scenic farmland and follows the tree lined Missouri River with its towering river bluffs.  The mostly flat, crushed gravel trail makes for great biking with several neat stops along the way (we are planning stops at some local historical points and wineries.) The five daily rides will range from 30-60 miles.

Cost is $495 per person.  Cost includes all camping equipment, transportation and food.  We will be transporting all our equipment to our next campsite in our van, so you will just be in charge of biking with your own supplies for the day. You are responsible for your own bike. Just let us know if you don’t have a bike, we have a couple of options on bike rentals.
