Kick off your fall with a truly amazing gravel bike race: the inaugural Fred’s Paper Route Gravel Bike Race!
Fred’s Paper Route was created to honor Fred, who is still delivering newspapers on his cruiser bike at the young age of 70+ in Griswold, Iowa. This is a gravel cycling event sanctioned by USA Cycling.
The event will feature races of 34 and 68 miles. The 34 mile race will feature five drop boxes and participants will be able to earn prizes for hitting each drop-off point. The terrain and distance keep you on your toes, and the rolling fields are stunningly remote and beautiful. There are about 10 notable inclines per loop. The rest is pure Iowa gravel! Check out the course map here.
Each racer receives metal mug. At the end of the event, racers will enjoy a free post-race chili meal, including beer and root beer.
Registration opens at 11 a.m. and the race starts at noon. Parking is available at 53169 Dogwood Rd, Griswold, IA 51535.
